Where it came from
The 5002824-1 magnet set was released by The LEGO Group as a promotional item, typically distributed through official brand retail channels or at special events. These magnets were part of a larger series of minifigure-based accessories designed to celebrate the enduring popularity of the original Star Wars trilogy, specifically focusing on iconic characters from A New Hope.
The design features standard LEGO minifigure torsos and heads permanently attached to magnetic backing plates. By simplifying the characters into these small, functional displays, the design team aimed to provide fans with a way to integrate the aesthetic of the franchise into everyday environments like refrigerators or metallic surfaces. These sets were generally well-received by collectors for their simplicity and the inclusion of core protagonists and antagonists in a compact format.
