Heartlake City Playground

The Heartlake City Playground, released in 2017 as part of the Lego Friends theme, was designed to expand the play environment for the line's core characters. This set focuses on the social and recreational aspects of the fictional Heartlake City, providing structures such as a treehouse, a climbing wall, and a slide. It was developed to encourage imaginative play by incorporating detailed modular elements that allow children to rearrange the park layout, reflecting the theme's emphasis on friendship, creativity, and community-oriented storytelling.

The design follows the aesthetic established by the Friends line since its 2012 launch, utilizing a distinct color palette of bright pastels and unique brick shapes that differed from the traditional system-scale sets of the time. While the series initially faced some criticism for its gender-specific marketing, it was widely praised for introducing more intricate building techniques and diverse structural designs. The Heartlake City Playground is regarded as a hallmark of this era, successfully bridging the gap between decorative building and functional, narrative-driven play.
