Where it came from
Released in 2023 as part of the Lego Architecture series, this set captures the iconic Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. The set was designed to honor the structure's status as a pinnacle of Japanese castle architecture, often referred to as the White Heron Castle due to its brilliant white exterior and complex, wing-like roof gables.
The model was developed by Lego designers to replicate the castle's distinctive tiered towers and its intricate network of winding paths and cherry tree-lined grounds. Upon release, it was well-received by the architectural and modeling community for its success in balancing the aesthetic delicacy of traditional Japanese wooden construction with the limitations of the plastic brick medium.
