Where it came from
Released in 2009, the LEGO Holiday Magnet set (852742-1) was part of a seasonal collection designed to serve as festive decorative items. These magnets were sold in a blister pack containing three individual minifigures—a Santa Claus, a snowman, and a gingerbread man—each permanently attached to a molded plastic backing piece that functions as a refrigerator magnet. The set emerged during a period when LEGO frequently released small, theme-specific accessory packs to capitalize on holiday gift-giving traditions.
The figures included in this set are classic representations of holiday archetypes, rendered in the standard LEGO minifigure style. The design emphasizes traditional Christmas colors and iconography, reflecting a straightforward approach to seasonal branding intended for children and adult collectors alike. While these sets were widely distributed through LEGO retail channels during their launch year, they are now primarily sought after by long-term fans for their nostalgic value and the specific printing details on the holiday-themed minifigure torsos.
