Where it came from
The LEGO BrickHeadz Jake Sully & his Avatar set, released in 2022, was designed to coincide with the resurgence of the Avatar franchise leading up to the release of the sequel, The Way of Water. As part of the stylized BrickHeadz line, the set focuses on capturing the distinct visual identities of the two versions of the protagonist, Jake Sully, using a limited palette of geometric bricks to represent his human form and his Na'vi avatar.
The design process for this set reflects the signature aesthetic of the BrickHeadz series, characterized by oversized heads and simplified, blocky proportions. Designers sought to translate the intricate textures of Na'vi skin and military-issue human attire into the constraints of the system. Upon its release, it was received as a niche collectible for fans of James Cameron's cinematic world, serving as a display piece that emphasizes the duality of the central character.
