Where it came from
Released in 2004, Jayko was part of the LEGO Knights' Kingdom II theme, representing one of the core heroic knights. This particular set, 5999-1, was a small promotional release designed to introduce the character through a buildable figure that emphasized the new modular construction system utilized across the theme. It was produced during a period when the company was experimenting with more narrative-driven, character-focused play patterns.
The figure features a distinct blue and silver color palette, reflecting the character's role as the knight of courage within the storyline. The design prioritized action-oriented features, such as the flick-fire projectile weapon, which was a hallmark of the era's technical focus. While the broader Knights' Kingdom II line received mixed reviews for its departure from traditional castle building, these character figures were well-regarded for their accessibility and their role in establishing a cohesive visual identity for the sub-theme.
