This series was designed to blend traditional physical building sets with augmented reality technology, allowing users to interact with their models through a mobile application. The theme explored a fictional town called Newbury, where the residents were haunted by ghosts, and the sets were engineered with mechanical play features that could be manipulated to reveal hidden color-coded elements scanned by the app.

The set centers on a yellow research submarine piloted by J.B., the resident scientist and ghost-hunting expert of the Hidden Side universe. Designers aimed for a balance between an industrial submersible aesthetic and the supernatural motifs characteristic of the theme, incorporating translucent green elements to signify ghostly activity.
