Jedi Starfighter & Slave I

Released in 2003 as part of the LEGO Star Wars Mini Building Set series, set 4487-1 was designed to capture the iconic silhouettes of two major vessels from the prequel and original trilogies. This set arrived during a period when the LEGO Group was heavily expanding its Star Wars catalog, providing fans with smaller, more accessible scale models that focused on recognizability rather than complex structural detail. It served as a companion piece to other miniature sets released that year, offering collectors a way to display ship pairings that rarely crossed paths on screen.

The design of both the Jedi Starfighter and Slave I in this set utilizes a constrained parts palette to approximate the distinctive curves of Obi-Wan Kenobi's starfighter and the unique profile of Boba Fett’s ship. The aesthetic reflects the early 2000s design language of LEGO, which prioritized simplicity and clever part usage over the more nuanced greebling seen in modern micro-scale releases. Upon its debut, the set was well-received by fans for its compact form factor and the novelty of including two distinct, highly recognizable ships in a single affordable package.
