Jestro's Volcano Lair

Released in 2016 as part of the LEGO Nexo Knights theme, Jestro’s Volcano Lair was designed to serve as the primary antagonist's base of operations. This theme blended medieval aesthetics with futuristic technology, reflecting a narrative shift toward high-concept, multi-media storytelling that integrated physical play sets with a digital app-based experience. The set was created to capture the imaginative, chaotic spirit of the Nexo Knights conflict, featuring a modular build that could open to reveal intricate interior play spaces.

The design of the set focuses on the intimidating, fiery aesthetic of Jestro's volcanic home, incorporating complex mechanical functions such as a falling throne and a trapdoor system. As the flagship set of the first wave of Nexo Knights, it was crafted to appeal to children interested in both action-oriented play and elaborate construction. While the Nexo Knights theme was short-lived, sets like this remain notable for their unique fusion of fantasy motifs and sophisticated LEGO structural engineering.
