Where it came from
Knuckles' Guardian Mech, released in early 2024 as part of the LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog theme, was designed to expand the playability of the series by introducing iconic antagonists and vehicles. The set was created to reflect the aesthetic of Knuckles the Echidna, capturing his characteristic red color scheme and powerful build, while integrating play features like dual stud shooters that allow for interactive combat scenarios.
The set was conceived as a modular addition to the broader LEGO Sonic lineup, which aims to bridge the gap between classic platforming gameplay and physical construction. It features minifigures of Knuckles and Rouge the Bat, designed to appeal to both long-time fans of the Sega franchise and collectors of specialized character-based LEGO models. Upon release, it was noted for its faithful color matching and the inclusion of exclusive printed elements that distinguish it within the Sonic set collection.
