Where it came from
The 401-2 Large Wheels with Axles set was introduced during a period when the manufacturer was expanding its modular building system to include more functional mechanical elements. Designed to provide builders with increased mobility options for their creations, these components were engineered to integrate seamlessly with the existing brick-based construction method. The set represents a shift toward more dynamic, interactive building experiences that moved beyond static structures.
The design of these wheels and axles prioritized durability and utility, utilizing a standardized sizing that became a hallmark of the company's technical range. The components were intended to support a wide range of custom vehicular builds, encouraging users to experiment with weight distribution and balance. Upon release, the set was well-received by builders who sought to bridge the gap between architectural modeling and early mechanical engineering.
