Legends of Chima

Released in 2013, the Legends of Chima collection was an original intellectual property developed by the LEGO Group to replace the long-running Ninjago series. Set 50006-1, titled Eris’ Eagle Interceptor, was a foundational entry that introduced fans to the Eagle tribe and the central conflict over the mystical energy source known as Chi. The design philosophy centered on animal-themed vehicles that reflected the characteristics of the tribe’s avian warriors, utilizing a sleek white and blue color scheme to emphasize flight and agility.

The set was conceptualized by the LEGO design team to act as a primary vehicle for the character Eris, providing a tactile representation of the high-fantasy world depicted in the accompanying animated television series. Upon its launch, the line received mixed but curious reception, as collectors debated the shift away from Ninjago's established aesthetic toward this new, biologically inspired mechanical theme. The design proved effective as a play-set, focusing on robust wing mechanisms and a pilot cockpit that became a signature look for the early wave of Chima releases.
