Where it came from
Released in 2016 by DK Publishing, this set represents a departure from traditional LEGO instruction booklets, focusing instead on the concept of 'inspirational' building. It was developed to encourage creative play by providing a narrative framework and building prompts rather than a singular static model, reflecting a growing movement in the mid-2010s to emphasize open-ended construction over rigid adherence to build guides.
The physical components were curated to complement the included storybook, which features a variety of micro-builds and scene-setting ideas designed by various LEGO builders. The set was well-received by parents and educators for its focus on problem-solving and modular design, effectively bridging the gap between a standard building set and an activity book.
