Where it came from
The LEGO City Gift Bag, designated 852117-1, was released by the LEGO Group around 2007 as a promotional accessory designed for consumers purchasing LEGO City merchandise. It served as a functional piece of brand collateral, intended to provide a thematic carry-all for retail shoppers during the mid-2000s expansion of the City line, a period characterized by a renewed focus on modular urban play sets.
The bag features graphic designs consistent with the visual branding of the LEGO City theme at the time, utilizing the bold primary colors and logo typography that defined the era's marketing. While not a buildable set, it reflects the company's efforts to cultivate brand loyalty through branded lifestyle goods, and it is now sought by completionist collectors who focus on promotional items and non-brick LEGO memorabilia.
