Where it came from
LEGO set 4002014, known as LEGO HUB Birds, was produced in 2014 as an exclusive gift for LEGO employees. It was distributed during the holiday season to staff members at the company’s headquarters and global offices as a token of appreciation. The set features a trio of birds—a snowy owl, a blue jay, and a cardinal—mounted on a shared display base, reflecting the company's tradition of creating limited-run sets that are never released for general retail sale.
The model was designed by Thomas Poulsom, the same enthusiast who famously created the successful LEGO Ideas Birds set released to the public in 2015. Poulsom’s design aesthetic for this specific set emphasizes clean lines and recognizable avian silhouettes, utilizing a minimalist brick-built approach that highlights the characteristic colors of each species. Because of its strictly internal distribution, the set is highly regarded by collectors as one of the most sought-after employee-exclusive models in the brand's history.
