Where it came from
The LEGO Minifigure-a-Day 2024 Daily Calendar was published by Chronicle Books in partnership with the LEGO Group, released in the lead-up to 2024. This calendar serves as an exploration of the vast history of LEGO character design, offering fans a daily window into the evolution of the minifigure since its debut in 1978. It functions as both a functional tool for tracking the year and a curated retrospective of the diverse themes and series that have defined the brand over several decades.
The design of the calendar emphasizes the visual variety of the minifigure, showcasing iconic characters alongside obscure figures to celebrate the company's creative output. The project was conceived to appeal to lifelong adult fans of LEGO, often referred to as AFOLs, who appreciate the aesthetic progression of the figures from simple smiley faces to the detailed, dual-molded pieces seen today. It is widely regarded as a staple desk accessory for those embedded in the building community, valued for its commitment to the archival history of one of the world's most recognizable toys.
