Where it came from
The LEGO Play and Display Case, identified as set number 5006156-1, was introduced by the LEGO Group as a functional storage and exhibition solution for minifigures. Designed to bridge the gap between active play and organized collection management, the case allows enthusiasts to store their minifigures within a protective environment while simultaneously showcasing them through a clear, front-facing viewing pane.
The design emphasizes portability and modularity, featuring a recognizable aesthetic that aligns with standard LEGO storage products. It was developed to cater to the growing community of adult fans of LEGO and parents seeking tidy display options for children's collections. Its reception has been primarily pragmatic, with collectors favoring it for its ability to prevent dust accumulation while keeping specific sets of minifigures arranged in a thematic or chronological display.
