Where it came from
The Lennox with Lion Cannon set, designated 471408-1, is a specialized release within the broader universe of collectible action figures and play-sets. It emerged as part of a niche fantasy-themed line designed to capitalize on the popularity of anthropomorphic character design and modular weaponry during the early 2000s. The set focuses on the character Lennox, a central figure within this proprietary narrative, paired with a distinct, lion-themed artillery piece.
The design aesthetic prioritized a mix of rugged fantasy armor and mechanical integration, reflecting the era’s trend toward 'gimmick-heavy' play-sets that combined display value with interactive features. The illustrator and designers aimed for a look that would stand out on retail shelves through exaggerated features and the ornate, heraldic styling of the lion cannon. While the line enjoyed a loyal following among collectors of smaller-scale fantasy figures, it remains a distinct, retrospective example of the creative experimentation occurring in the toy market during that period.
