Where it came from
Lloyd ZX, released as set 9574-1 in 2012, belongs to the Ninjago Spinjitzu sets. This iteration of the character Lloyd Garmadon was designed to reflect his transition into a core member of the ninja team, specifically focusing on the golden ZX armor style. The set was produced during a period when the Ninjago theme was gaining significant momentum, utilizing the popular spinner play mechanic to encourage competitive, game-based interaction among collectors and children.
The character design for the ZX series was intended to convey a sense of unity and upgrade, moving away from the more simplistic ninja outfits of the line's debut. By incorporating detailed printing on the torso and head gear, the designers sought to distinguish the characters in their powered-up states. Upon its release, the set was well-regarded by the community for its accessibility and for providing a key protagonist in his refreshed aesthetic.
