Where it came from
Released in 2013 as part of the LEGO Star Wars magnet series, the Luke Skywalker magnet (set 850636-1) was designed to serve as both a display piece and a functional household accessory. These sets typically featured a molded plastic base with an embedded magnet, topped with a non-removable minifigure. This particular iteration features Luke Skywalker in his iconic Rebel pilot flight suit from the original Star Wars trilogy, capturing a key moment of the character's aesthetic.
The design follows the long-standing tradition of LEGO Star Wars character collectibles, which prioritize playability and display value for fans of the franchise. Because the figures were permanently affixed to the magnet base, these items were received primarily as novelty desk or refrigerator accessories rather than standard building sets. They remain a recognizable segment of the broader LEGO Star Wars catalog that emerged throughout the early 2010s to capitalize on the enduring popularity of the film series.
