Where it came from
Released in 2024 as part of the LEGO Harry Potter theme, this set recreates the iconic Mandrake plant encountered by students during Herbology lessons at Hogwarts. Designed as a display piece rather than a traditional playset, it captures the creature in its signature pot, complete with posable leaves and a root structure that reveals the character’s distinct, mischievous facial features when lifted.
The model was developed to appeal to adult fans of the Wizarding World, focusing on botanical detail and mechanical play functions. By incorporating a gear mechanism, the LEGO design team enabled the plant's mouth and chest to move, simulating the plant’s infamous cry. It has been well-received by the collector community for its clever use of parts and its ability to function as both an interactive toy and a decorative display object.
