Mario's Beach Adventures

Mario's Beach Adventures, set number 72055-1, belongs to the LEGO Super Mario theme, which debuted in 2020 as a collaborative effort between the LEGO Group and Nintendo. This set was designed to integrate physical building elements with digital play, utilizing a Bluetooth-enabled Mario figure that reacts to color sensors and action bricks placed throughout the layout. The design team focused on capturing the aesthetic of tropical levels from the Mario franchise, translating iconic elements like Cheep Cheeps and rocky platforms into the modular building style characteristic of the product line.

The reception of the set was tied to the broader experimental nature of the LEGO Super Mario launch, which prioritized interactive gameplay over traditional static models. Critics and collectors noted that the set successfully replicated the mechanics of the source material by allowing users to navigate a course and earn digital coins. As part of an expanding ecosystem of sets, this offering was intended to provide a self-contained environment that could also be connected to the larger starter course, reflecting the modular philosophy intended to keep the play experience fresh and expansive for younger builders.
