Where it came from
The LEGO Star Wars Jedi Starfighter, set number 6966, was released in 2005 to coincide with the theatrical debut of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. As part of a series of promotional polybags, this compact model was designed to offer an accessible, entry-level building experience that captured the essential silhouette of Obi-Wan Kenobi's starfighter from the film's opening sequence.
The design process for this micro-scale set focused on efficiency and recognizable color blocking, utilizing a limited piece count to replicate the ship's iconic wedge shape and cockpit. While its diminutive size meant it lacked the intricate mechanical detailing of larger System-scale sets, it was well-received by collectors for its clever use of standard bricks to suggest complex geometry and its status as an affordable piece of cinematic merchandising.
