Where it came from
Released in 2023 by Chronicle Books under official license, this collection serves as a visual anthology of the iconic LEGO minifigure. The set was conceived as a celebratory retrospective, curating a diverse selection of characters spanning the company's decades-long history, ranging from classic townspeople and space explorers to more specialized licensed characters.
The design focuses on high-quality studio photography that captures the tactile, plastic aesthetic of the figures against minimalist backgrounds. By presenting these figures as individual portraits, the collection shifts the focus from their function as building components to their status as distinct cultural icons. It was received as a nostalgic piece of stationery for collectors who appreciate the evolution of toy design and the artistic versatility of the minifigure form.
