Where it came from
Released in 2018 as part of the LEGO Elves theme, the Naida & the Water Turtle Ambush set (41191) was designed to expand the fantasy narrative centered around the world of Elvendale. This set depicts a pivotal encounter between the elf Naida Riverheart and a guardian water turtle, complete with a small boat and a villainous bat antagonist. The design aesthetic reflects the theme’s commitment to vibrant, translucent color palettes and intricate, nature-inspired builds that defined the Elves product line during its mid-2010s run.
The creation of the Elves line served as a strategic departure from traditional LEGO play patterns, emphasizing character-driven storytelling and mystical creature designs. Naida & the Water Turtle Ambush was well-received by builders who appreciated the detailed sea turtle model, which featured a mobile head and storage space for a diary. While the theme was retired to make way for new intellectual properties, it remains regarded for its unique building techniques and the specific creative vision of the designers who crafted the lore-heavy Elvendale universe.
