Where it came from
The Ninja minifigure was released in 2010 as part of the Series 1 Collectible Minifigures line, the inaugural wave of a concept that would become a cornerstone of the brand. This series was designed to offer enthusiasts unique, highly detailed characters in blind-bagged packaging, departing from the traditional boxed set model to prioritize character-driven collectibility.
The figure features a minimalist black design with a detailed face mask and katana accessories, drawing inspiration from classic shinobi iconography. It was received favorably by the community for its simplicity and the inclusion of exclusive gear, setting a stylistic benchmark for the ninja-themed characters that would eventually evolve into the expansive Ninjago sub-theme.
