Where it came from
The Ninja Belt & Throwing Star set (851338-1) was released by the LEGO Group in 2012 as a seasonal accessory kit. Designed to capitalize on the surging popularity of the Ninjago theme during its early years, this set provided role-play elements intended to immerse young fans in the fantasy of the martial arts narrative central to the toy line. It served as a standalone novelty item meant for creative play rather than traditional construction.
The design of the set reflects a minimalist approach to toy manufacturing, prioritizing portability and thematic consistency with the Ninjago brand. Featuring a plastic belt and foam-based throwing stars, the product was marketed as a costume accessory. While it did not receive extensive critical analysis in design journals, it was well-received by the target demographic of young children who sought to physically embody their favorite fictional characters.
