Where it came from
The Ninjago Armor accessory set, released as part of the LEGO Ninjago theme in 2016, was designed to expand the play potential of existing minifigure collections. It was distributed primarily through LEGO brand stores and online channels, serving as a functional pack that provided players with additional gear, weaponry, and protective plating to outfit their ninja characters during the 'Skybound' era of the franchise.
The design of this blister pack reflects the aesthetic shift seen in the mid-2010s Ninjago line, prioritizing modularity and character customization. By offering these armor elements separately, LEGO allowed builders to swap out gear across various figures, a design choice that was well-received by fans for its versatility. The set is representative of a broader strategy to offer affordable, accessory-focused expansions that complement the larger, more complex building sets.
