Where it came from
The On the Move Police Station, set 3616-1, was released in the mid-1990s as part of the LEGO system's efforts to expand its portable, self-contained play sets. This line was specifically designed to appeal to younger builders who required a compact, integrated storage solution that allowed for quick assembly and mobile play, reflecting a shift in toy design toward convenience and versatility for children on the go.
The set features a fold-out construction that transforms from a carrying case into a functional police station with modular pieces. The design reflects the classic aesthetic of the era, utilizing standard brick geometry to create a recognizable law enforcement theme. It was received as a practical addition to the catalog, valued by parents for its clean-up efficiency and by children for its portability within the broader play environment of the time.
