People Pack - Space Research and Development

Released in 2019 as part of the Lego City Space sub-theme, the People Pack - Space Research and Development (60230-1) was designed to accompany the larger space exploration sets of that year. The set draws inspiration from the real-world activities of NASA and private aerospace companies, focusing on the human element of space travel rather than the vehicles themselves. It serves to populate a Lego space station or research base with a variety of specialized personnel.

The set features fourteen unique minifigures, including scientists, engineers, and astronauts, along with a rotating centrifuge, a treadmill, and a small rover. The design team sought to reflect the diversity and technical rigor of modern space programs, incorporating realistic equipment and lab gear. Upon its release, it was well-received by collectors for providing an accessible way to expand a space-themed display with character-focused builds rather than just heavy machinery.
