Where it came from
Released in the early 1990s as part of the Lego Duplo thematic line, this set was designed to provide a wholesome, festive experience for young children. Following the brand's tradition of large, safe, and durable bricks, it aimed to introduce toddlers to narrative-driven play by recreating the cozy atmosphere of a holiday home, complete with quintessential winter figures and accessories suitable for small hands.
The set reflects the design philosophy of the era, which prioritized rounded edges and primary color palettes to facilitate cognitive development and motor skills. Like many Duplo sets of its time, it was created by the internal design team at the Lego Group in Billund, Denmark, and was received by parents as a durable, educational staple for the holiday season, emphasizing imaginative storytelling through simple, robust construction.
