Where it came from
The LEGO Platypus, set 40241-1, was released in 2017 as part of a series of promotional polybags. These sets were often distributed in specific regions or through special events rather than standard retail channels, designed to offer small, accessible builds that capture the essence of various creatures through creative part usage.
The design employs a limited palette of dark tan, brown, and black bricks to mimic the characteristic features of the platypus, such as its iconic bill and streamlined body. It is typical of the simplified, stylized aesthetic found in LEGO's smaller creature-themed builds, which prioritize silhouette and playability over complex articulation.
