Where it came from
The 4077-1 Plesiosaur was released in 1978 as part of the Lego Fabuland theme. This series was designed by the Lego Group to bridge the gap between the Duplo system and standard bricks, targeting younger children with larger, specialized molded figures and whimsical characters that encouraged narrative play.
The figure features the distinct aesthetic of the Fabuland line, characterized by rounded edges, bright primary colors, and anthropomorphic animal designs. It was created to provide a marine-themed companion for the various play sets of the era, reflecting the brand's shift toward character-driven construction toys during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
