Police HQ

Released in 1986, the Police HQ (set 7035-1) stands as a prominent representative of the classic LEGO Town theme, which dominated the company's output throughout the 1980s. Designed during a period when the brand was refining its approach to modular, city-focused play, the set provided a centralized hub for the growing array of emergency service vehicles. It captured the quintessential aesthetic of the era, utilizing a straightforward color palette and functional design elements that encouraged imaginative urban roleplay among children of the time.

The set was crafted by the internal design teams at LEGO who were tasked with creating enduring building experiences that emphasized playability and architectural structure. Like many sets of its vintage, the design prioritized a simple, open-faced layout for accessibility, moving away from more abstract precursors toward a cohesive city layout. It was well-received by the market, becoming a staple of 1980s playroom environments and remaining a nostalgic touchstone for collectors who grew up during the transition from early brick-based structures to more detailed thematic sets.
