Where it came from
The Princess Leia minifigure (850997-1) was released as part of a promotional keyring set produced by the LEGO Group. It arrived during a period of intense expansion for the Star Wars licensing agreement, which aimed to translate iconic cinematic characters into the company's signature modular aesthetic for the enthusiast market.
The design draws directly from Leia Organa's appearance in A New Hope, featuring the character's distinct cinnamon-roll hairstyle and white robes. This piece was designed to bridge the gap between functional household accessories and collectible display items, reflecting the brand's shift toward creating specialized merchandise that appealed to adult fans as much as children.
