Where it came from
The Rainbow Caterbus, released as part of the Trolls World Tour product line in 2020, was designed to capture the whimsical, vibrant aesthetic of the DreamWorks animated feature. The set was created to provide a buildable version of the film's primary mode of transport, emphasizing modular features and a high-saturation color palette that reflects the musical themes of the movie.
The design focused on interactivity, featuring a folding bus structure that expands into a play space and includes multiple character figurines. The set was received as a functional addition to the broader Trolls licensing agreement, appealing primarily to younger builders and fans of the film's character-driven narrative and eccentric visual style.
