Where it came from
The LEGO DUPLO Rally Car, set 10589-1, was released in 2015 as part of the broader DUPLO Town collection. This set was designed specifically for toddlers, emphasizing larger, chunky bricks that are safe for small hands and easy to manipulate. The design focuses on simplicity and durability, featuring a racing-themed vehicle and a small driver figure to encourage early imaginative play and fine motor skill development.
The set represents the brand's commitment to creating accessible building experiences that align with developmental milestones for children aged two to five. By utilizing a primary color palette and minimal, sturdy components, the designers aimed to provide a frustration-free building experience. Upon its release, the set was received as a functional, classic addition to the DUPLO lineup, serving as an entry-level vehicle for young builders interested in the theme of racing.
