Where it came from
The Red Panda Mei set, released in 2024 as part of a collaboration between the Lego Group and Disney Pixar, celebrates the central transformation sequence from the film Turning Red. Designed to capture the whimsical and emotional core of the movie, the set focuses on the character Mei Lee in her giant red panda form. It was developed to offer fans of the film a tangible representation of the protagonist’s self-discovery and the cultural themes of the narrative.
The design prioritizes articulation and expressive features, allowing the figure to mimic the character's signature poses from the film. The aesthetic leans into the bold, colorful palette associated with the movie’s distinct animation style. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the franchise for its faithful character likeness and its appeal as a display-oriented build that bridges the gap between traditional play sets and collectible character figures.
