Where it came from
Released by the LEGO Group in 2024, the Santa's Holiday Countdown set, numbered 40874-1, was developed as a seasonal decorative piece intended to bring a festive, interactive element to the holiday season. The set follows the tradition of LEGO's holiday-themed promotional items, designed to appeal to both younger builders and adult collectors who enjoy incorporating seasonal builds into their home decor.
The design of the set focuses on a functional countdown mechanism, featuring a brick-built calendar aesthetic that utilizes the system's modular nature to track the days leading up to Christmas. The aesthetic reflects a contemporary, clean design language consistent with modern LEGO holiday sets, prioritizing displayability and ease of assembly while maintaining the recognizable charm associated with the brand's seasonal releases.
