Where it came from
Released in 2017 as part of the LEGO Duplo Town theme, Santa's Winter Holiday 10837-1 was designed to introduce younger children to the imaginative play associated with holiday narratives. The set features a classic winter theme, including a buildable sleigh, a slope for sledding, and a Christmas tree, all constructed with the larger, safer Duplo bricks tailored for toddlers. The design aesthetic focuses on bright primary colors and simple, chunky silhouettes that emphasize tactile engagement and developmental motor skills.
The set reflects the broader Duplo mission to provide approachable, durable building experiences that bridge the gap between simple stacking and complex construction. By incorporating festive characters like Santa Claus and a child figure, the designers sought to facilitate role-play opportunities, allowing children to act out stories of gift-giving and seasonal celebration. It was received as a functional, seasonal addition to the Duplo line, valued by parents for its seasonal appeal and its compatibility with other Duplo bricks.
