Where it came from
Scribble-Face Bad Cop was released in 2014 as part of the inaugural LEGO Minifigures series dedicated to The LEGO Movie. This specific variant depicts the character from the film after Emmet draws a new face on his helmet in permanent marker, a humorous turning point that illustrates the character's internal conflict and eventual shift away from his rigid, authoritarian persona.
The figure was designed by the LEGO Group's internal character design team to replicate the hand-drawn aesthetic seen on screen. The intentionally crude marker-style lines are printed onto the standard Bad Cop helmet piece, effectively balancing the polished design language of the minifigure line with the film's playful, makeshift narrative tone. It was well-received by fans for its direct tie-in to a memorable scene and its unique, expressive departure from standard LEGO printing.
