Where it came from
The Squid Launcher Function, set 6946-1, was released in 2007 as part of a specialized line of LEGO Technic accessories designed to expand the play features of various models. It was developed to provide builders with a compact, spring-loaded projectile mechanism, reflecting the era's focus on integrating active play functions into functional mechanical sets.
The design of the launcher emphasizes the modular versatility characteristic of the Technic building system. By utilizing elastic tension, the component allowed for the launching of small plastic projectiles, a design choice intended to introduce basic physics concepts to younger builders. Upon its release, it was regarded as a practical utility piece for custom builds rather than a standalone display model.
