Where it came from
Released in 2022 as part of the LEGO Friends line, this set was designed to capture the excitement of competitive ocean sailing. It features a sleek boat equipped with a flexible sail and a radar station, reflecting the brand's shift toward more complex, activity-based builds that encourage narrative play centered around skill, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
The set was developed during a transitional era for the Friends theme, which aimed to introduce more diverse, aspirational hobbies for the characters. The design process focused on functional elements like a moving rudder and a rotating winch, providing a tactile experience that mirrored actual sailing mechanics while maintaining the approachable aesthetic of the Friends universe.
