Stormtrooper Magnet

The LEGO Stormtrooper Magnet, part of set 850642-1, was released in 2013 as part of a line of minifigure-based merchandise. These magnets were designed to allow fans to display iconic characters from the Star Wars universe on metallic surfaces, often serving as a functional yet collectible desk or household accessory. Unlike earlier versions where the minifigures were permanently bonded to the magnet base, this iteration featured a baseplate that allowed the figure to be detached, a design choice intended to give collectors more flexibility in how they displayed their sets.

The design draws directly from the classic Imperial Stormtrooper aesthetic, replicating the distinctive white armor and black bodysuit seen throughout the original Star Wars trilogy. By producing these figures in a magnet format, the LEGO Group aimed to capture the appeal of the Star Wars franchise for a broader audience beyond those strictly interested in building large-scale playsets. The set was generally well-received for its simplicity and the ability to reclaim the minifigure for use in other LEGO builds, which helped distinguish it from previous promotional magnet sets.
