StoryStarter Core Set

The LEGO StoryStarter Core Set (45100-1) was released by LEGO Education to provide educators with a tactile, narrative-driven tool for the classroom. Designed to improve literacy and storytelling skills in primary school students, the set focuses on the fundamental elements of a narrative, including characters, settings, and plot points. It arrived at a time when LEGO Education was increasingly emphasizing the role of 'learning through play' in curriculum-based subjects, moving beyond traditional engineering and math applications.

The system was developed with input from literacy experts and educators who sought to bridge the gap between visual building and creative writing. The set features a specific selection of minifigures, animals, and diverse building bricks intended to serve as inspiration for storyboarding. Upon its release, it was well-received by teachers for its ability to help students who struggled with traditional writing exercises by giving them a physical way to conceptualize their narrative structure before committing ideas to paper.
