Where it came from
The Super Nova II, set 6832-1, was released in 1992 as part of the LEGO Space theme, specifically within the Unitron sub-theme. Designed during an era when the company was experimenting with more complex, modular space vehicles, this set served as a centerpiece for the faction. It represented a shift toward larger, utilitarian craft featuring magnetic components, reflecting a design philosophy that prioritized interactive play through mechanical attachment points.
The design was led by the internal LEGO creative team, who focused on a distinct color palette of black, white, and red accented by translucent neon-green canopies. The set was received as a technically ambitious addition to the Space line, noted by enthusiasts for its unique folding wing mechanism and the inclusion of specialized printed bricks. It remains a hallmark of early 1990s aesthetic sensibilities within the broader LEGO Space universe.
