Where it came from
Released in 2012, the LEGO Star Wars Super Pack 3-in-1, set number 66432-1, was a promotional bundle sold primarily through major retailers. These multi-packs were designed as value offerings for the holiday season, combining three distinct, previously released retail sets into a single box to incentivize larger purchases for gift-givers. This specific iteration included the 9490 Droid Escape, 9491 Geonosian Cannon, and 9492 TIE Fighter.
The component sets were designed by the LEGO Star Wars team to align with the release of the updated 2012 line, featuring refreshed minifigure designs and ship detailing. The packaging for these Super Packs maintained the standard trade dress of the period, emphasizing the total number of pieces and the inclusion of multiple iconic ships. While these bundles were well-received by parents and casual collectors for their convenience, they are viewed today as a snapshot of LEGO's distribution strategy during the peak of the mid-2010s Star Wars product cycles.
