Where it came from
Released in 2013 as part of the LEGO DC Super Heroes theme, the Metropolis Showdown set was designed to capture the climactic conflict from the 2013 film Man of Steel. The set features a reconstruction of a small section of the city of Metropolis, incorporating a collapsing antenna tower to simulate the destruction seen during the film's final act.
The set includes two minifigures, Superman and General Zod, and was designed to provide an accessible entry point into the DC universe for younger builders. The aesthetic focuses on the utilitarian architecture of the film's urban environment, utilizing a gray and yellow color palette to reflect the aesthetic choices of the movie production design.
