Where it came from
Szass Tam is a character from the Dungeons & Dragons universe, appearing as part of the LEGO Minifigures Dungeons & Dragons Series, released in 2024 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the game. The figure represents the high-ranking lich of the Red Wizards of Thay, a prominent antagonist in the Forgotten Realms setting. The design team focused on capturing his skeletal appearance, translucent magical accessories, and signature red-robed regalia to differentiate the figure from generic fantasy archetypes.
The figure was conceptualized as a blind-bag collectible, marking LEGO's first foray into a dedicated Dungeons & Dragons minifigure line. The design was praised by the fan community for its intricate printing on the headpiece and torso, which successfully translates the dark, necromantic aesthetic of the original source material into the scaled-down format of a minifigure. It serves as both a functional game piece for tabletop enthusiasts and a highly detailed display item for collectors.
