Where it came from
The Lost Village, set 20206-1, was released as a promotional item within the Smurfs construction toy line. Produced to capitalize on the enduring popularity of the Smurfs franchise, the set was designed to capture the whimsical, organic aesthetic of the Smurfs' forest dwellings. It focuses on the iconic mushroom-shaped architecture that defines the village in both the original Peyo comics and subsequent animated adaptations, offering a compact, brick-based interpretation of the characters' home environment.
The design of the set reflects the collaborative efforts of the manufacturing team to translate the rounded, soft shapes of the Smurf source material into a rigid building system. By utilizing specific color palettes of red, white, and earthy greens, the designers aimed to evoke the charm of the animated series. Upon its release, the set was received as a nostalgic collectible by fans of the brand, serving as a functional piece of display art that functions both as a standalone play set and as a foundational element for larger Smurf-themed dioramas.
